Anybody Know Where They Are?
The book, Original MGB by Anders Clausager, lists 4 LHD North American 1973 MGBGTV8's . I'd buy one of those were it available.

Anybody Know Where They Are?
From the start of the MGBGTV8 project at Abingdon it was hoped the car would be exported to the USA as it had been MG's most important market. Seven complete cars were completed each with the appropriate export specification chassis number prefix of GD2D2-DUD. Work to adapt the Rover V8 engine to satisy US exhaust emissions requirements had been done and at the time of the launch of the MGBGTV8 in the UK in August 1973 all the dealers in the US wanted to place orders for the car, but sadly it was not to be.

Today each of those seven LHD V8s is known to the V8 Register. Tom Studer, a V8 enthusiast in Switzerland, has made a close study of these cars and they are naturally cherished by V8 enthusiasts in mainland Europe. Many of those LHD V8s will be at the MG Car Club's European Event of the Year 2008 being organised by MGCC Switzerland and due to be held in Switzerland in August. You can learn more about the export development V8s in David Knowles' book "MG V8 - 21 Years On" published in 1994 - see pages 35 to 36 and 112.

For 2008 the V8 Register is intending launching new online vehicle search facilities so members will then be able to look up cars of interest. A New Offline Database has recently been created and testing is close to complete and meanwhile our IT specialist, Steve James, is developing the online facilities which will enable members to visit a new website we have established for the vehicle search facilities. If you click the V8 Grapevine rollover image at the bottom RH corner of the V8 website you can get a feel for how those new services will look and the type of information members will be able to retrieve. But do note the detailed vehicle searches will only be available as a member service with necessary security access controls.
