RV8 Upper wishbone bushes
Does anybody know the likely parts bin origin of the original upper wishbone bushes for the front suspension of the RV8? They are a fairly complicated item featuring oil retaining bushes and the rubber flange is reinforced with a steel washer-plate. B&G list them as NLA and CW does not supply them either.
My ones are quite good and could easily be replaced but, it would be nice to have new ones.

Angus
as you say ZKC6745 is NLA, however I have spotted on Ebay a company that sells RV8 component parts including the full RV8 cross member suspension for retro fitting to MGB derivatives. I have tried to find more about them to no avail, I believe they are based in Yeovil, Somerset and called V.A.G Automotive Components. You could email them through ebay with your request, a current listing for them is for ZKC5744 no 270543934024, hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

I got some wheel studs from VAG at Yeovil, luckily for me the Manager only lives about 4 miles from me. He said they keer all the front suspension parts in stock as they bought all the stock from Portland Engineering who built the original crossmembers. You will have to contact via Ebay ,as they dont publish their details as there main work is for the Military. If you get a problem contacting them ,let me know and I will go to his house and ask him to contact you.

Boys, boys, you have excelled yourselves. Thank you. Nigel, I telephoned your contact just now and he knew exactly what I was talking about. He just has to check his stock and ensure that he has enough for his own requirement - that being building up complete replacement front ends I think. He will phone me tomorrow morning. Will I sleep tonight? Thank you again, I will keep you informed.

An update then. I spoke today with the man who holds the stock purchased from Portland Engineering. He has 120 sets but needs 200 for his own business, so we are both in the same boat. He did say that he will try to find the origin of these items, as will I. Just as and when I have any news, I will let you know. Thanks again boys.

Guys,
I believe the upper bushes are CAC9295 XJ6 1968-1989. They are silent block bushes and look identical to the Jaguar bushes. I have however not done a side by side examination so this could be speculation. Perhaps an RV8 owner with access to Jaguar bits can confirm. I think the upper ball joint is also from the same Jaguar series. Again it needs to be confirmed. Google the part number above and you will see a picture of the bushes. New Upper Control Arm Bushing

Hi David. Good to hear from you again.
I have found the website, www.jaguarclassicparts.com and they have a set of 4 Slipflex bushes that do look very much like the RV8 bushes, from the drawing anyway. Price £23.88 which is very good. I will contact them on Monday morning. If these items are the correct ones I will also keep this post up to date as there will certainly be others wanting these items eventualy. Supplier details are as follows.

Hi Angus
I keep an eye on this site so see your posts. Thanks for doing the legwork on this matter. You might want to have an original set in your hands to compare.
Good to catch up as well

Right boys, I have the right information at last.
The bushes are Jaguar, Bush-Wishbone part number 02MJA1462AB.
I purchased a set of four today from Jaguar in Bury St.Edmunds but they should be available anywhere. The centre steel bush it too long by 6mm and has to be shortened in a lathe.
The price was about £93 + VAT for the set of four, so not cheap but as said before these are a fairly sophisticated items that would be difficult to reproduce. They are supplied dry so the grease retaining bush has to be filled with grease upon assembly.
I will start a new post with the same info because this post has begun to drop off the radar and this is important information.
Good to hear from you David. You were so right with your comment regarding having the item in my hand prior to purchase. I looked on the internet and the fuzzy pictures showing the product and the variation in price made me very wary. In the event the Jaguar main dealer price was the same as the more expensive internet price, but I knew what I was looking at.
Many thanks to all who have joined this post. Terrific stuff lads. Well done.
