GT V8 article Classic & Sports Car March 2010
For those who haven't seen it or contributed to the article, a GT V8 is on the front cover with the caption 'MG's bargain baby ASTON' Does anyone know who the featured Flamenco Red car belongs to as the number plate is disguised, and does the colour indicate that this is a chrome bumper conversion?

GT V8 article Classic & Sports Car March 2010
You can see our NEWS report on the Classic & Sports Car March 2010 issue via the link in the Recent Changes log posted yesterday afternoon. The author of the article, Graeme Hurst, contacted me at an early stage and he was provided with the contacts for around ten V8 members so he could call them for first hand impressions of the model, including some of the V8 Roadster conversions too. I will contact Graeme and try and get an answer to your query. I am at a slight disadvantage as I have not yet been able to buy a copy of the magazine although I know from Chris Hunt Cooke that as a subscriber he received his copy yesterday.

Hi Victor
I received my copy of Classic & Sports Car on Monday too. The article has write ups by Bob Owen, Mike Breedon, Geoff King, Peter Wilson and Gordon Hesketh-Jones (the RV8 gets a mention too) and I thought perhaps that the featured GT V8 was owned by a V8 Register member. Since you have helped Graeme Hurst, perhaps you should also ask Classic & Sports Car where your complimentary copy of the issue is!

Rob,
I think the MGBGTV8 featured on the cover was provided by a trader west of London, possibly Motobuild, but I notice it does not have V8 badges on the grille or the nearside wing but fellow member George Wilder, who has received his subscription copy, tells me that photos in the article do show the car has a V8 badge on the tailgate.

I have had several enquiries from classic car motor magazines recently for help with contacts with fellow members for interviews on the their experiences of getting and running a V8 and for the loan of their car for road tests. Naturally at this time of year the difficulty (as I know you will be aware)is that many classic car enthusiasts are not at all interested in getting their V8s out at present with such heavy salt conditions on the roads - and indeed many will be on SORNs.

I contacted a number of fellow members to see if they would help Graeme Hurst and as you have seen they were pleased to do so including Bob Owen and Gordon Hesketh-Jones who were able to provide their views on using the V8 as a true grand tourer for trips in mainland Europe. I shall be interested in seeing the article so if you could send me a scan I would be most grateful.
