Factory GTV8 Clutch
I am guessing this has been covered previously but my factory V8 which has always had clutch clearance problems and finally the clutch plate seized to the pressure plate. On stripping it down the part numbers appear to be Rover SD1 on the clutch assemblies. Is this possible?

Factory GTV8 Clutch
Hello Phil,

I have a GT V8 conversion based on an early Rover 3.5 block - early type oil pump, rope type crankshaft oil seals and smaller valves. The engine number indicates a 1976 date of manufacture. Although all the above characteristics have been modified, I had no reason to change the flywheel. Over the years I have had 2 x Rover SD1 clutch assemblies fitted to the engine, the most recent incorporating the self aligning clutch withdrawal bearing.

I delayed replying to to your message as I have an LT77 5 x speed SD1 gearbox in the car and that means a different clutch withdraw slave cylinder, so I would not have been comparing like with like. I have never detected any difference in the physical dimensions of the clutch assemblies for the V8, although pressure plate spring tension and driven plate facings specs may vary.

Perhaps the V8BB will turn up differing views.
